Editing Philosophy
My role as editor is to recognize what it is the writer is trying to do with their book, and offer specific advice on how to go about accomplishing that. Developmental editing focuses on problems with structure, narrative, character complexity and interaction, plot, point of view, weak areas of craft. Line editing is more focused on problems within each sentence. Ghost editing occurs when the author provides the basic plot and character outlines, and the ghost editor writes the actual story.
